A fire fighting consultant designs the water-based and special systems that control a fire: sprinklers, hose reels, landing valves, hydrants, fire pumps and tanks, and where needed gas or foam suppression. The design is checked against the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice and the relevant NFPA standards.

Which codes do you design to?
The UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice, with NFPA 13, 14 and 20 as the main technical references for sprinklers, standpipes and fire pumps.
Do you submit to Dubai Civil Defence yourselves?
We prepare the design package and support the review. Submission goes through the parties Civil Defence approves for the project; we will tell you at the start who needs to be involved.
What is a hydraulic calculation and why is it needed?
It proves that the most demanding area of the building receives enough water at enough pressure when sprinklers operate. Without it, pipe and pump sizes are assumptions.
Can you redesign sprinklers for a fit-out?
Yes. Partitions and ceilings change coverage, so we re-plan head locations and check the hydraulics against the existing riser.
Which code applies to fire fighting systems in Dubai?
