What does a home automation consultant do?

A home automation consultant designs how a home's lighting, air conditioning, curtains, audio-visual and security systems are controlled together. They choose the platform, plan the wiring and write down how each room should behave, before the electrician starts.

Our home automation installation team builds and programs the design. For larger buildings with central plant, see BMS consultancy.

The best time to plan a smart home is before the conduits go in; the most common time is after the painter has finished. As a home automation consultant in Dubai we get involved at design stage, agree with you how each room should work, and give the electrical contractor drawings that show exactly what to wire and where.

Our smart home design covers lighting scenes and dimming, AC and thermostat control, curtains and blinds, multi-room audio, home cinema, door entry, cameras and energy monitoring. We compare wired systems such as KNX with wireless options honestly: a KNX design is robust and open to many manufacturers but needs planning, while wireless suits finished homes where cabling is not practical.

Owners, architects and interior designers come to us for smart home system design for villas in Dubai and for apartments where the developer's basic package needs extending. The design links to CCTV and access control where wanted, uses the same principles as our BMS consultant work for larger buildings, and can be installed by our home automation contracting team.

Home Automation: questions, answered

Is KNX better than wireless smart home systems?

KNX is wired, stable and supported by many manufacturers, which makes it a strong choice for new builds. Wireless is easier to add to a finished home. We recommend based on your building stage and expectations.

Can an existing villa be automated?

Yes, usually with wireless or hybrid systems that avoid chasing walls. We survey first and tell you what is realistic.

Will the house still work if the automation fails?

It should. We design so that lights and AC can still be operated manually from wall controls.

Can I control everything from my phone?

Yes, along with wall keypads and voice assistants where you want them.

When should home automation be planned in a villa project?

Before the electrical design is frozen. Wired systems such as KNX need control cable, deep back boxes and space in the distribution boards, which are cheap to add on drawings and expensive to add after plastering.
