VFD Consultant in Dubai
The right drive on the right motor, set up to save energy without tripping when the weather turns hot.
What does a VFD consultant do?
A VFD consultant selects and specifies variable frequency drives for motors, works out the energy they will save, and designs the installation so the drive, cable and motor work together. That includes checking harmonics, cooling, protection and how the drive is controlled.
Our VFD contracting team supplies, installs and commissions drives, and the BMS consultants set how the building controls them.
A variable frequency drive lets a motor run at the speed the process actually needs. On pumps and fans, where power falls steeply as speed drops, even a modest speed reduction cuts energy use sharply. As a VFD consultant in Dubai we start with a VFD energy saving study: measuring how the motor is loaded now and estimating the saving and payback before you commit to anything.
Variable frequency drive sizing is more than matching kilowatts. We check motor current, duty cycle, cable length, ambient temperature in the panel or plant room, harmonic distortion on the supply and whether filters or reactors are needed. Drives that trip in August were usually sized for a brochure, not for a Dubai plant room.
We advise on VFD selection for pumps and fans in Dubai's chilled water plants, AHUs, booster sets and process lines, and on how the drive should be controlled from a PLC or a BMS. The service is part of our industrial automation consultant work, with supply and installation through VFD contracting.
What's included
Energy saving study
Measured load profile, estimated saving and payback period.
Drive sizing and selection
Rating, enclosure and options matched to motor and environment.
Harmonic assessment
Distortion check and filter or reactor recommendation.
Control integration design
Speed reference, feedback and interlocks with PLC or BMS.
Panel and cooling design
Ventilation and layout so drives survive summer temperatures.
Fault investigation
Why an existing drive trips, overheats or damages motors.
When to call us
You do not need a finished brief. If any of these sounds familiar, let's talk.
- Pumps or fans run at full speed all day and are throttled by valves or dampers.
- Drives trip on overtemperature or overcurrent in summer.
- You want payback figures before approving a retrofit.
How we work
Designed, installed, commissioned and supported: one team across all four stages.
Design
Process study, functional description, panel and network design.
Installation
Panels, drives, instruments and cabling installed and terminated.
Commissioning
I/O checks, sequence tests and performance runs on the live process.
Support
Training, documentation, remote assistance and maintenance after handover.
Where we work
- Manufacturing plants
- Water and wastewater
- Utilities and energy
- Food and beverage

VFD Consultant: questions, answered
How much energy can a VFD save?
It depends on how much of the time the motor can run below full speed. On variable-flow pumps and fans the saving is often substantial; we measure and estimate it for your equipment before recommending a retrofit.
Can a VFD be fitted to an existing motor?
Usually. We check the motor's insulation, cooling and cable length first, because some older motors need a filter or should be replaced.
Do VFDs cause electrical problems?
They produce harmonics, which matter on larger installations. We assess this and specify mitigation where it is needed.
Soft starter or VFD?
A soft starter only reduces starting current. If the process benefits from running at varying speed, a VFD is the right choice.
Why do VFDs save so much energy on pumps and fans?
Pump and fan power falls roughly with the cube of speed, so running at 80 percent speed needs only about half the power. Most pumps and fans in buildings run at part load for much of the year, which is why a drive that matches speed to demand often pays for itself quickly.
