Shopping Mall Acoustic Consultants in UAE
Large, hard, busy spaces made comfortable to spend time in, with announcements people can actually understand.
Why do shopping malls need acoustic design?
Malls combine large volumes, hard surfaces and thousands of people, which produces long reverberation and high noise levels. Acoustic design keeps atriums and food courts comfortable, makes public address and emergency announcements intelligible, and stops noisy tenants disturbing their neighbours.
Installation inside an operating mall is handled by our mall acoustic contractors. Plant noise from rooftops is covered by MEP acoustics.
A mall's acoustics affect how long visitors stay. In a reverberant food court the noise builds on itself until conversation is hard work. As shopping mall acoustic consultants we model the main volumes and place absorption where it does most good: soffits, bulkheads, baffles and feature ceilings that fit the architecture.
Mall acoustics also has a safety side. Voice evacuation messages must be understood, so we check PA speech intelligibility in shopping malls against the system design and the room acoustics together. Food court noise control, cinema and entertainment isolation, gym impact noise and rooftop plant are assessed tenant by tenant.
The service forms part of our architectural acoustics work under the acoustic consultant practice, and draws on MEP acoustics for plant. Installation is available through shopping mall acoustic contracting.

Shopping Mall Acoustics: questions, answered
How do you reduce noise in a food court?
Mainly by adding sound absorption to ceilings and upper walls so the noise of many voices does not build up. Layout and screening help as well.
Can you set acoustic rules for mall tenants?
Yes. We write tenant criteria covering sound insulation, impact noise and music levels, and review fit-out submissions against them.
Do you test PA systems?
We measure speech intelligibility of the installed system and advise whether loudspeakers, settings or room treatment need to change.
Do you help tenants as well as the mall owner?
Yes. We advise on shopfront and fit-out acoustics, including sound transfer to neighbouring units and shared areas.
Can acoustic treatment be added to an operating mall?
Often, yes. Ceiling and wall absorption can usually be installed in phases and out of hours to limit disruption.
What is STI and why does it matter for mall PA systems?
The Speech Transmission Index rates how intelligible speech is through a sound system, from 0 to 1. Emergency voice announcements must be understood, and fire codes commonly target an STI of about 0.5 or higher in public areas. Long reverberation in atriums is the usual reason a system falls short.
